Campaign Overview

Since 1851, St. Joseph's Prep has pursued its mission as a Catholic, Jesuit, Urban, College Preparatory School to develop the minds, hearts, souls, and characters of young men in their pursuit of becoming men for and with others. Today, it is still the goal of our nearly 1,000-member student body, 90-member faculty and alumni network of over 10,000.

While the Prep’s mission remains constant, the world is changing. Rising costs related to education, the revolution in technology, and a declining Jesuit presence have created unprecedented challenges. For the Prep to remain integral to the lives of future generations of young men, critical needs must be met.

The Prep faces challenges in its physical infrastructure. While advances have been made to the campus in recent years – most notably the construction of the Kelly Fieldhouse – further improvements are necessary to ensure an atmosphere conducive to the Jesuit-style of education which values the individual. Talented students and faculty need adequate space to study and work. The transformation of the Jesuit Rectory into an accessible, state-of-the-art place of learning and support will meet this need.

Financial challenges dictate that The Prep must also increase its endowment. For years, the generosity of members of the Prep family has offset rising operating costs, keeping the cost of a Prep education accessible. A stronger endowment will further this commitment and solidify the Prep’s support of need-based scholarships, faculty excellence and state-of-the-art technological resources.

The Prep has developed a $30 million campaign that will underpin the financial security, facilities and funding necessary to continue our legacy of excellence. Through imagination, strategic planning and the generosity of our community, THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE PREP: OUR LEGACY ~ OUR FUTURE will ensure that future generations of students graduate from the Prep and continue to go forth as ambassadors of good in the world – “Men for and with Others.”
