Construction Progress Update - December
Demolition of the Jesuit Residence has phased into active construction throughout the building. The small rooms that once housed sixty Jesuits are being reconstituted into the sixteen classrooms, visual arts center, multiple office suites and meeting rooms that the Academic Center will house. As the renovations are being carried out from the fifth floor down, most of the obvious progress is taking place on those upper floors. The classrooms and the art facilities on the fourth and fifth floor have been framed and sheetrock has been applied.

Focus on the Dining Hall
The centerpiece—architecturally, physically and emotionally—of the Academic Center Project will be the resituating of the existing Dining Hall into the space formerly occupied by the Multi-Purpose Room. Many remember the Multi-Purpose Room for its Brutalist construction with its large amount of concrete and an absence of windows.

Campaign Profile: Class of 1970
After the devastating fire of 1966, the Class of 1970 spent two and a half years in a substandard facility. Now, through their donations to the Campaign for The Prep, they are helping to ensure that future generations of Prep students have what they did not: a state-of-the-art academic center that will allow for smaller class sizes and more AP offerings.

Construction Progress Update - October
Internal demolition of the Academic Center and the Multi-Purpose Room has almost ended. Walls have been removed, old doorways reinforced by steal beams and the Jesuit Residence’s basement has been provided with a state of the art drainage system as well as a new concrete floor. The project remains slated for completion by the start of the 2008 - 2009 academic year.

Campaign Kicks Off With Celebration and Tours
On Sunday, February 25, The Campaign for The Prep ~ Our Legacy, Our Future kicked off with a Mass, followed by a presentation on the project and tours of the future academic center. Nearly 400 members of the Prep community braved the winter weather for a chance to learn more about the plans for the future of The Prep.
