In Memoriam: Henry (Hank) Quinn '52

On April 19 The Prep lost an incredible friend as Henry (Hank) Quinn ‘52 died of acute leukemia and kidney failure. Mr. Quinn served two terms on the Board of Trustees (1986-92, 1993-99, Chair 1996-99) during a time when critical decisions regarding the future of the school were made. Mr. Quinn was chair of the “25 Million Capital Campaign” that brought the current Fieldhouse expansion to the school and also served as Honorary Chair of The Campaign for The Prep. He received The Prep’s most prestigious award, Alumnus of the Year, in 1993. In thanks for his support to the campaign, the alumni archives in the new academic center will be named in his honor.

Mr. Quinn was associated with the accounting firm of KPMG in Philadelphia. He retired as a partner with the firm in 1986 and established H.A. Quinn Enterprises in Rosemont.

In addition to his years of service to The Prep, Mr. Quinn was actively involved with many other worthy causes in the region, including Saint Joseph’s University and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He was past chairman of the capital campaign and development committees at the University and established the Sutula Chair in Accounting there. Mr. Quinn received SJU’s Shield of Loyola award in 1995 and was named to its business and administration hall of fame in 1990.

Mr. Quinn was active in fund-raising for Catholic Charities and served on the Council of Managers for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He was also a longtime member of Overbrook Golf Club, where he played two or three times a week with friends.

“We were very blessed to have Hank’s support and talents for these many years,” says Prep President Rev. William J. Byron, S.J. ’45. “I know that he is at peace with his Lord in heaven.”
